BIOGRAPHY

Weston Wright is a PhD student in the department of Communication at the University of South Florida. Weston received his BA in Religious Studies and Philosophy at 四虎影视; likewise, he also received his M.A. at 四虎影视 in Religious Studies. His area of research is found within Organizational Communication, namely within the communicative constitution of organizations (CCO) with a specialization in the Luhmannian school.
His research revolves around the social system of magic(k) and how magic(k) (e.g. witchcraft, crystal healing, tarot, etc.) is differentiated from science and religion.
Questions of interest: How does magic(k) differentiate itself from other systems such as religion and science? How does communication organize around magic(k)? What is the role of power, secrecy, and latency within these organizations?
In answering these questions, Weston seeks to introduce a new area of study within the discipline of communication studies. Doing so will shine a light on a relatively unexplored and prejudiced part of our social world.
Within the department of communication at 四虎影视, Weston serves as the Vice-President for the Graduate Communication Association (GCA).
Aside from studying religion, magic(k) and communication, Weston is also heavily involved in children鈥檚 Theatre within the Palm Harbor area. He currently serves as a board member and vice-chair for the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Academy.
