SALUTE Veteran Honor Society

Membership in SALUTE signifies your service, academic excellence, and a commitment to high principles and superior achievement throughout your lifetime. Your SALUTE designation will set you apart from the crowd.
SALUTE stands for Service, Academics, Leadership, Unity, Tribute, and Excellence. They are the core values of our honor society and the foundation of your success.
BENEFITS:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Undergraduate Students:
- Degree-seeking student
- Must have completed at least 12 credit hours
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
Graduate Students (master’s and doctoral degrees):
- Degree-seeking student
- Must have competed at least 9 credit hours
- Minimum 3.5 GPA
MEMBERSHIPS:
Salute Individual Membership:
- Offered to active duty, reserve, guard and veterans only
- Must have Honorable, Other Than Honorable, Medical or Administration separation to be considered to join
Salute Honorary Membership:
- Honorary members may be spouses, dependents, faculty, community leaders, and other non-active or non-veteran personnel, and shall be nominated by a SALUTE Chapter, or by the SALUTE staff to the Executive Steering Committee for approval.
- National Honorary membership may be offered for up to seven percent (7%) of the total membership of SALUTE as determined by the Executive Steering Committee.
- Honorary members shall be persons who have made or are willing to make distinctive contributions to the cause of student veterans, the chapter, and the Office of Veteran Success
- Honorary members must be involved and apply at minimum one year from their graduation date to be considered for approval to become a member of SALUTE.
Salute Professional Membership:
- This membership recognizes college graduates whose academic performance would have qualified them while a student. These members are encouraged to serve as a support to currently matriculating and recently graduated SALUTE members as they transition into the professional world.
- Professional members must be involved and apply at least one year from their graduation date to be considered for approval to become a member of SALUTE.
CLASSIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate students:
Undergraduate students are classified in the following tiers based upon GPA level:
- Alpha Tier GPA: 3.75 - 4.00
- Bravo Tier GPA: 3.50 - 3.74
- Charlie Tier GPA: 3.25 - 3.49
- Delta Tier GPA: 3.00 - 3.24
Graduate students (master’s and doctoral degrees):
All graduate students will be classified as follows:
- SALUTE Gold Members
Application Process to be a Member of the ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society Chapter
Applications are open at the beginning of each semester (Fall and Spring semesters only).
SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society applications for new members open on Monday, August 25th at 5:00 A.M. and closes on Sunday, September 28th at 11:59 P.M.
APPLICATION LINKS FOR NEW MEMBER WILL BE PROVIDED AFTER ATTEDING AN INFORMATION SESSION. IT’S A REQUIREMENT AND MANDATORY FOR STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE INFORMATION SESSIONS.
- You must attend a SALUTE information session before completing the online application. The link for the online application will be provided during the meeting.
- Verify you meet the eligibility criteria
- Know which type of membership and classification you are applying for
- Know that involvement is a must (attend, participate, and volunteer during meetings, ceremonies, initiatives, and events). If you live outside of the Tampa Bay area or overseas, we’ll work with you. The details will be explained during the information session
- Honorary & Professional members must be involved and submit an application at minimum one year from their graduation date to be considered for approval to become a member of SALUTE.
- Have the following electronic documents available for submission:

- Unofficial college transcripts () ()
- For veterans: DD-214, showing Honorable or Other Than Honorable discharged. Or provide Medical or Administration separation forms to be considered to join
- For active duty, reserve, and guard: current military orders.
- A professional photo of yourself, to be used for our events, to include induction and graduation ceremonies (mandatory)
7. Be aware that payments are made to SALUTE National and the cost is based on the membership. (https://salute-colostate.nbsstore.net/memberships). DO NOT MAKE A PAYMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ SALUTE VETERANS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY, ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ CHAPTER.
