Alcohol & Other Drugs
Alcohol
Social media might have you thinking college = non-stop parties and red Solo cups, but real life at ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ is a different story. Most first-year Bulls aren’t drinking at all, and over 25% have never had alcohol. You’re not alone if you choose to stay sober. In fact, you’re in great company. Do college your way, no pressure, no judgment.
Cannabis/Marijuana
There’s a lot of conversation, both in the news and on campus, about cannabis use. While it may be perceived as more natural compared to other substances, it’s important to recognize that cannabis can still lead to dependence and that can negatively impact academic performance, motivation, and mental health. At ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ, over half of students have never used marijuana and than a quarter believe there is significant risk in using marijuana regularly.
Tobacco and Hookah
Hookah and tobacco may seem different but both are harmful. One hookah session can equal the smoke of 100 to 200 cigarettes, delivering nicotine and toxic chemicals that damage your health. All tobacco products are addictive and costly but quitting can help you breathe easier, sleep better, and save money.
Opioids
Narcan is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose — and it's important to know how and where to get it. Whether you're looking to be prepared in case of an emergency, support a friend, or just want to stay informed, we've got you covered.
Prescription Drugs
Most people use prescriptions safely, but misuse, like taking the wrong dose or using someone else’s meds, can lead to addiction, serious side effects, or death. Many students misuse "study drugs" to stay focused, not realizing the risks. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available through the Counseling Center or Student Health Services.
Other Illegal Drugs
College can bring new experiences, including potential exposure to illegal drugs like molly, cocaine, or heroin. Whether at a party, concert, or casual gathering, it's important to understand the risks, feel confident in saying no, and be prepared to support yourself and others if needed. You don't have to say yes to fit in—being informed helps you protect your health and make choices that reflect your values and goals.
Medical Amnesty
ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ has a medical amnesty policy which means ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ will support your responsible action of calling for emergency medical assistance and, despite the unlawfulness of the situation (like underage drinking or illegal drug use), will not take disciplinary actions against you or the person for whom you sought medical attention.
